  • Bradley was pronounced dead at the scene, while Noah died days later in the hospital
  • The alleged driver, Benjamin Lancaster, was charged with operating under the influence and leaving the scene

A pair of 2-year-old twins in Maine died after an alleged hit-and-run crash that also injured the boys’ mother.

Maine State Police say that on July 11, a man driving a white Hyundai struck 33-year-old Mollie Egold and her twin sons in Albion, Maine.

WGME reported that Egold had been pushing the boys in a stroller at the time and was hit from behind.

One of the boys, identified in a GoFundMe as Bradley, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Egold and the other boy, Noah, were taken to the hospital. The organizers of the GoFundMe said Noah died days later at the hospital.

Police allege that the driver of the Hyundai fled the scene but was later identified as Benjamin Lancaster, 44, and arrested.

Lancaster is charged with operating under the influence causing death, operating under the influence causing serious bodily injury, leaving the scene of an accident causing death and leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury.

It is not immediately clear if Lancaster has entered a plea.

According to the GoFundMe, the organizer is hoping to raise money for Egold to buy a grave plot near that of her son, William. So far it has raised more than $45,000.

WGME reported that in 2017, Egold and William, who was 5 years old, were canoeing on a stream when their boat went over a waterfall. William was killed after falling under debris.

Egold told the outlet at the time that the canoe had gotten caught in a strong current before the waterfall.
