While the spotlight at Patriots camp has largely shined on quarterback Drake Maye and the arrival of Stefon Diggs, it’s second-year wide receiver DeMario Douglas who’s quietly stealing the show.

Douglas has been electric — consistently explosive off the line, sharp in his routes, and impossible to ignore in team drills. He’s stacking highlight plays day after day, and it’s no longer a surprise when he becomes the most noticeable player on the field.
What’s impressed coaches most is his growth. Douglas isn’t just using raw speed — he’s showing polish, timing, and confidence. He’s winning routes at all levels and developing strong chemistry with both Maye and veteran QB Jacoby Brissett.
While Stefon Diggs is still working his way back to full form and rookies like Ja’Lynn Polk are finding their rhythm, Douglas has emerged as the most consistent and reliable weapon in the receiver room.
He’s even taking special teams reps, hinting at the staff’s growing trust in his versatility.
For a player drafted in the sixth round just a year ago, Douglas is proving he’s ready for a bigger role — and potentially a breakout season.
If his camp performance translates to preseason action, don’t be surprised if DeMario Douglas becomes a major piece in the Patriots’ offensive resurgence in 2025.
