Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy made a splash in his rookie season, flashing his game-breaking 4.21-second 40-yard dash speed — the fastest ever recorded at the NFL Combine. That speed made him a dynamic weapon in the Chiefs’ offense, especially later in the season as he became more comfortable in the league.

Worthy’s role expanded significantly after fellow wideout Rashee Rice went down with a season-ending ACL injury. Stepping up in Rice’s absence, Worthy finished the year with 59 receptions, 638 yards, and 6 touchdowns — all without logging a single punt return.

Now heading into his second NFL season, Worthy is ready to do more — including special teams.

“Punt return? I’ll do anything the team needs me to do, however they need me to do it,” Worthy said.

With his elite speed and growing confidence, Worthy could become a valuable asset not only on offense but also on special teams. As he builds chemistry with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, expanding his role could make him an even more dangerous threat in 2025.
