V. Mahomes Sr. Cleared to Travel and Cheer on His Son in Preseason Opener

Good news for the Mahomes family: Patrick Mahomes Sr., father of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has been granted court approval to leave Texas and attend the Kansas City Chiefs’ preseason opener against the Arizona Cardinals on August 9, 2025, in Glendale, Arizona.

Mahomes Sr. is currently on probation following a DWI conviction, but his legal team successfully petitioned the court to allow him to travel out of state for the game. He’ll now have the chance to support his son in person as the Chiefs begin preparing for another championship run.

After months apart due to legal restrictions, the father-son moment promises to be one of the most emotional highlights of the Chiefs’ offseason. It will be the first time in months that Patrick Mahomes Sr. will be able to watch his son play live—a meaningful reunion that could provide a boost of motivation for the star quarterback.
