Reba McEntire’s Son Reaches A Major Milestone
Reba McEntire is beaming with pride after her son Shelby completed his first solo flight as a pilot.
The country icon took to social media this week to share the exciting news.
In her post, Reba included two photos. One is of her holding her son as a baby, and the next is showing him all grown up, standing next to the plane he flew.
“Turned around to check on you, and realized you’re not my newborn anymore,” text over the two pictures read.
The “Fancy” singer also wrote in the caption, “Safe to say, he’s gonna fly. So proud of Shelby for taking his first solo flight!”
Fans quickly went to the comments of the post to congratulate Shelby on his big achievement. Many also couldn’t believe how grown up he is now.
“How exciting !! Congratulations Shelby!” a user wrote.
“Congrats, shelby, the first solo is the toughest to get past. Time to soar, Buddy, you’ll be in jets in no time!” said another.
“I remember when he was born! I was ten. We were so excited for you! Still are,” said someone else.
Reba welcomed her first and only child, Shelby Steven McEntire Blackstock, in 1990 with her now ex-husband Narvel Blackstock.
The couple had tied the knot the year before and were married for 26 years before officially divorcing in 2015.

The Caption To Reba’s Congratulatory Post Was A Sweet Nod To Her 2005 Hit Song “You’re Gonna Be”
The song touches on the unconditional love a mother has for her child. The lyrics go on to say that no matter how tough life gets, they can always count on their mother’s support and love.
“You’re gonna fly with every dream you chase / You’re gonna cry, but know that’s okay / Sometimes life’s not fair, but if you just hang in there / You’re gonna see that sometimes bad is good / We just have to believe things work out like they should / Life has no guarantees, but always loved by me / You’re gonna be”
Little did Reba know when she released the song nearly 20 years ago that the lyrics would one day take on a very literal meaning… because these days, Shelby really is flying!
