Carrie Underwood Cares for Sick Rooster Amid Bee Swarm Forcing Her Off Tennessee Farm

Country superstar Carrie Underwood has been busy tending to her Tennessee farm in recent weeks—despite an unexpected bee invasion forcing her temporarily out of one part of her property.

The American Idol alum shared a heartfelt update on Instagram Wednesday, posting a selfie with one of her beloved animals: a rooster sporting a blue harness and green bowtie. “Sick rooster in a harness,” she wrote, adding with a smile, “I don’t think he likes it.” The candid moment showed Underwood glowing in a simple blue T-shirt, clearly devoted to nursing her feathered friend back to health.

Just two weeks earlier, Underwood revealed the source of recent farm upheaval: a swarm of bees had invaded her orchard. “Had to get out of the orchard when the bees started swarming…” she captioned a video showing the buzzing hive nestled in her blueberry bushes. “Maybe we can catch them tomorrow if they’re still there,” she added optimistically.

Farm Life and Family

Underwood purchased the Franklin, Tennessee farm in 2011 for $3 million, where she lives with her husband Mike Fisher and their two sons, Isaiah (10) and Jacob (6). The farm is home to a variety of animals, and Underwood frequently updates fans on their wellbeing.

In the past, she has shared the ups and downs of farm life—from an injured hen in the mini coop to a chicken suffering from being egg-bound, a serious condition that required immediate care. Her devotion to her animals and garden reflects a deep connection to the land and its creatures.

Underwood’s garden is a personal sanctuary where she cultivates everything from mushrooms and zucchinis to watermelons. “My garden is one of my happy places… when I’m getting my hands dirty, it’s my time for thought and reflection,” she once wrote on Instagram.

Back on the Small Screen

This farm update comes on the heels of Underwood completing her first season as a judge on American Idol, alongside Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. The show marked a full-circle moment for the singer, who won the competition in 2005.

When asked about returning for another season, Underwood remained coy, saying, “I don’t know! There’s lots to contemplate.”

American Idol showrunner Megan Michaels praised Underwood’s first season, noting how she carved out her own role and brought a valuable mix of nostalgia and constructive criticism to the show. “She knows back in her day how hard she was pushed every week to become the best,” Michaels told TV Line, “so I think she’s brought a lot to the show, and I hope people love it.”

A Star Grounded in Family and Farm

Between caring for her sick rooster and managing a buzzing bee situation, Carrie Underwood is embracing the simple joys and challenges of farm life. As she balances motherhood, music, and television, her devotion to her home and family shines through—reminding fans that even country’s biggest stars cherish quiet moments of care and connection.
