More witches are back.

Practical Magic 2 has added Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing to its ensemble.

Wiest is reprising her role as Aunt Jet, while Channing reprises Aunt Franny, who play the witches that raised the Owens sisters, Sally (played by Sandra Bullock) and Gillian (played by Nicole Kidman) and taught them magic.

Warner Bros. announced on social media the sequel’s release date and that Bullock and Kidman were officially returning in May, following the reports in June 2024 that the stars were in talks to return. Susanne Bier (The Perfect Couple, Bird Box, In a Better World) is directing the sequel and Bullock and Kidman are producing with Denise Di Novi, who produced the original film. Akiva Goldsman, who co-wrote the original film’s script, and Georgia Pritchett (Succession) penned the screenplay.

Joey King (The Act), Lee Pace (Bodies Bodies Bodies), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) and Solly McLeod (The Dead Don’t Hurt) are also a part of the sequel’s cast. Production is now underway.

“25 years ago, Sally, Gillian, Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny flew off the pages of Alice Hoffman’s beloved novel and into theaters around the world, and we are thrilled to bring the Owens family back to the big screen with Joey, Lee, Maisie, Solly and Xolo joining the next chapter in our story,” the filmmaking team said in a statement. “The enduring affection for these characters has been our inspiration to deliver the next installment in the Owen’s story to new fans, and those who’ve been with us since the beginning.”

Practical Magic 2 hits theaters Sept. 18, 2026.

Deadline was first to report the news of Wiest and Channing’s casting.
