The Philadelphia Eagles’ success in short-yardage situations has yet to be duplicated.

The so-called “Tush Push” took the NFL by storm a few years ago. Quarterback Jalen Hurts lined up under center, and when he grabbed the ball, he crossed the line to either reach the goal line for a second down or a touchdown.

It was the play’s success that helped them extend drives and land the Eagles in the Super Bowl two years ago. Philadelphia is back in the Super Bowl, and the “Tush Push” is firmly on the minds of NFL fans ahead of Super Bowl Lix in New Orleans.

But Hurts admits he doesn’t fall for the hoopla surrounding the play and keeps its name “very standard.”

“That’s what you call it. I call it the sneaky quarterback,” Hurts said. “I keep it very standard.”

The “tush push” has been called just four times in the 2023 season, and it has become a hotly debated topic: Should the NFL ban the play?

NFL executive Troy Vincent threw cold water on the concept last February.

“Don’t punish a team that does it well strategically,” Vincent said during an appearance on “Pro Football Talk Live” at the time.

Whether you call it the “Tush push” or the “Brother Shove,” it seems like the play will be in the spotlight again.

Washington’s Chiefs have failed to stop it multiple times, and their consistent push in the NFC Championship nearly led the REFs to award Philadelphia a point.
