Blake Shelton Becomes Unexpected Hero, Rescues Teens from Oklahoma Mudslide. Country star Blake Shelton recently made headlines for a selfless act, not for his relationship with Gwen Stefani. While driving near the Washita River in Ardmore, Oklahoma, Shelton found four young men—Bryar Blanton, Lenyell Blanton, Josh Turner, and Adrian Poplin—stuck in a mud pit caused by a landslide.
Bryar explained that two of them got trapped, and after two hours of trying to help, he and Adrian went searching for help. They met Shelton, who arrived with his dog Betty, drove back, and tried to pull them out with his truck. When that failed, he promised to return with a tractor to rescue them.
The teens were amazed and took a photo with Shelton, who stayed to chat about hunting and life, showing he’s a kind, genuine person. Bryar thanked him on Twitter, and Shelton replied humorously, “No problem.. Now you boys stay outta jail!!!”
This wasn’t Shelton’s first heroic moment; earlier, he helped a man stranded during Tropical Storm Bill. Shelton’s kindness seems deeply personal, especially after he recently honored his late brother Richie, who died in a car accident when Blake was 14.
Whether on stage or off, Blake Shelton proves he’s more than a country star—he’s a true local hero.
