“COUNTRY HERO IN FLOODWATERS”: Blake Shelton Rescues Group of Stranded Teens During Texas Flood Disaster — “We Thought No One Was Coming. Then Blake Shelton Showed Up”
July 7, 2025

He’s topped charts, sold out arenas, and stolen hearts on The Voice. But this weekend, Blake Shelton’s biggest headline didn’t come from a stage — it came from raging floodwaters in rural Texas, where the country star saved four teenage boys stranded in rising water and thick mud after a devastating flash flood swept through the Kerrville region.
“We thought we were gonna be stuck out there all night,” said Bryar Blanton, 18. “But then this truck comes rollin’ through the mud — and it’s Blake freakin’ Shelton behind the wheel.”
Swept Off the Road — And Almost Forgotten
The group — Bryar Blanton, Lenyell Blanton, Josh Turner, and Adrian Poplin — had been off-roading near the Guadalupe River when a sudden downpour caused a flash flood and massive mudslide, trapping their vehicle near a creek swollen with debris and runoff.
“We were out by the ridge checking flood damage,” said Bryar. “Then the road started cracking. We slid into this mud patch and the truck sank like a rock.”
With no cell signal, and the sun going down, the teens walked several miles in soaking clothes, trying to flag down anyone who might help.
“Then we saw this pickup truck with a camo bumper and a hound dog in the seat,” Adrian said. “We waved like crazy.”
The driver?
“It was Blake Shelton. We couldn’t believe it.”
“Hop In, Boys”

According to the teens, Shelton rolled down his window and calmly asked, “Y’all stuck?”
When they nodded, he just said, “Hop in. Let’s go get your buddies.”
Blake first tried to pull the stranded truck out with his pickup, but the mud was too deep.
“He didn’t even blink,” Bryar recalled. “He just said, ‘I’ll be back in 15 minutes with my tractor.’ And he actually came back. Who does that?”
True to his word, Shelton returned, tractor in tow, and helped winch the vehicle out of the muck — soaking wet and muddy himself by the end of it.
“He wasn’t there for the cameras,” Lenyell said. “He was just a good dude helping some dumb country kids who got in over their heads.”
A Real-Life Hero with Mud on His Boots

This isn’t Blake Shelton’s first rescue.
Back in 2015, he famously helped a man stranded in Oklahoma floodwaters during Tropical Storm Bill.
But this latest act of kindness comes amid the deadliest flooding to hit Texas in over a decade, which has claimed over 100 lives and displaced hundreds of families across Kerr County and beyond.
“He Talked About Life, His Brother, and Told Us to Stay Outta Trouble”

Before heading off, Shelton shared a moment with the group, talking about his late brother Richie, who died in a car accident when Blake was 14.
“He said stuff like, ‘Y’all take life seriously. You don’t get a rewind.’ It hit me hard,” said Josh Turner.
The boys snapped a photo with the country star, and later posted their thanks on social media.
“Just wanna thank @blakeshelton for pulling us out yesterday — you’re the realest,” Bryar tweeted.
Blake responded in classic Blake fashion:
“No problem.. Now you boys stay outta jail!!! Ha!!!”
