CT Nikola Jokić dishes career-high 19 assists in Nuggets win against Pacers.

That’s how you respond.

The Denver Nuggets bounced back from their loss to the Los Angeles Lakers and defeated the Indiana Pacers, 125-116, on Monday. Denver now sits at 38-20 on the season and reclaimed second place in the Western Conference standings

This was a great win for the Nuggets. Indiana was playing some great basketball heading into Monday, having won 16 of their last 21 games. Indiana also had the NBA’s fifth-best offense during that stretch, but Denver limited them to just 32.6 percent shooting from the three-point line.

Nikola Jokić had the best passing night of his career and dished out a career-best 19 assists against the Pacers. He also pitched in 18 points and 9 rebounds.

Aaron Gordon was Denver’s leading scorer with 25 points on 11-of-17 shooting and 5 rebounds. Gordon’s scored 49 combined points in his last two games and has nailed 6 of his last 11 three-pointers.

Michael Porter Jr. recorded his eighth double-double of the season with 19 points on 9-of-16 shooting and 11 rebounds

Gordon set the tone early with 12 points in the first quarter on some super tough midrange jumpers. Jamal Murray also was on fire and nailed 4 three-pointers. Jalen Pickett checked in during the second quarter and gave the Nuggets great minutes, highlighted by a surreal circus shot from behind the backboard. That helped Denver go into the break with a 64-58 lead.

Things stayed close for most of the third quarter until Nnaji hit an up-and-under layup and then another bucket off a nice backdoor cut. Denver went on an 8-0 run and built a double-digit cushion. Indiana had one last push in them and went on a 15-6 run in the fourth quarter to make it a 7-point game. However, the Nuggets responded calmly with some two-man action between Jokić and Christian Braun to dice up the Pacers’ defense. Braun’s 8 fourth-quarter points helped put Indiana away.
