“I’ll score for you…”
The untold story of Patrick Mahomes and his deceased little sister
Kansas City, Missouri – Cold December
While the whole of America was preparing for Christmas, Patrick Mahomes walked out of the practice field with a quiet look in his eyes. No one knew that in his heart at that time was not a game plan… but a deep longing for his little sister – Skylar, who passed away on the day he signed his first contract with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Little Sister – Patrick’s No. 1 Fan
Skylar was born with a congenital heart disease. Ever since she was a child, she had to go in and out of the hospital constantly.
But one thing has never changed:
She loves football. And she loves her brother.
Whenever Patrick played in high school or college, Skylar would sit in a wheelchair, holding a sign that read:
“GO MAHOMES – I ALWAYS BELIEVE IN YOU!”
The farewell just before glory
The day Patrick got the call from the NFL Draft – he was picked by Kansas City in the first round – he rushed to the hospital. But Skylar was unconscious. Patrick sat next to him, whispering:
“Wake up… you told me if I got drafted, you would scream…”

But the next morning, Skylar was gone.
She was only 13.
The last letter
A few weeks later, Patrick’s mother found a note in Skylar’s diary:
“If you don’t live long enough to see me play in the NFL… I promise you:
Score, not for the crowd…
For a little sister who thought I was a superhero.”
On the field, there are tears
Every time Patrick Mahomes scores a touchdown, he points to the sky. Not as a celebration…
But as a promise kept.
The only time, when a reporter asked:
“Who is the first person you want to share the victory with today?”
Patrick just said softly:
“My sister. Skylar. Are you watching? I’m still playing… for you.”
Conclusion:
There are wounds that never heal.
But Patrick Mahomes chose to turn loss into motivation,
so that every time he steps on the field… it is a time for his little sister to come alive in the light, the cheers, and the rolling ball.
