MEMORIES OF AN ICON: The Day Ozzy Osbourne Offered Me a Beer at 10AM
By a Sun Photography Legend

Some interviews you forget the moment you leave the room. Others stay with you for life.
Meeting Ozzy Osbourne? That one’s burned into my memory forever.
It was years ago, not long after the Prince of Darkness had reportedly given up drinking. I was sent to his home for a shoot and a quick chat — the usual routine. Except nothing is “usual” when it comes to Ozzy.
He greeted me in his famously eccentric way, full of energy and unpredictable charm. We chatted casually, and just as I started setting up my camera, he turned to me with a grin and said:
“You want a beer?”
It was 10 o’clock in the morning.
I paused — maybe he was joking? But nope. He pulled open a fridge, full of cold ones, and handed one to me like it was the most normal thing in the world.

I reminded him he’d quit drinking, to which he simply laughed:
“Yeah, I quit… I didn’t say you had to.”
That moment perfectly summed up Ozzy: rock ’n’ roll to the bone, unpredictable, cheeky, and always 100% himself.

He may have been fighting personal battles, but he never lost his sense of humor — or his generosity. That morning beer might have been the strangest offer I ever received on a shoot, but it was also one of the most human.
Legends aren’t made by perfection. They’re made by personality. And Ozzy? He’s one of a kind.
