The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for one of the more underrated — but highly competitive — position battles in training camp: the punter spot.

Veteran Matt Araiza, known for his booming leg and past off-field controversies, returns looking to prove he’s ready to reclaim his role after a turbulent year. Across from him is rookie Eddie Czaplicki, the 2024 Ray Guy Award winner, whose consistency and calm under pressure have quickly turned heads.
Special Teams Coordinator Dave Toub has praised both players, noting that the competition will likely come down to preseason performance and who can consistently flip the field when it matters most.
“We’ve got two great legs, two very different styles, and one tough decision ahead,” Toub said.
With the Chiefs gunning for another deep playoff run, every yard counts — and the punter battle may be more important than most fans realize.
