Smith is set to sign a one-day contract and retire with the Cowboys, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday, per sources informed of the situation. Dallas later announced it will hold a press conference regarding Smith’s future on Wednesday.

Smith was the crown jewel of some excellent lines in Dallas alongside fellow retirees Zack Martin and Travis Frederick. A wall on the left side, Smith allowed 39 career sacks over 14 seasons, per Pro Football Focus. After giving up eight as an RT during his rookie season, he never gave up more than five in any campaign and generated four seasons allowing a single sack.
As they often do, injuries took their toll on the big man. Smith missed 44 games over the past five seasons and hadn’t played a full slate since 2015.

Smith suffered a neck injury that put him on the injured reserve list and forced him to miss the remainder of the regular season.
A member of the Hall of Fame 2010s All-Decade team, Smith ends his legendary career where it all started with a star on his shirt.
