The Pittsburgh Steelers aren’t wasting any time gearing up for one of the NFL’s most anticipated matchups — and Head Coach Mike Tomlin has one name clearly on his radar: Aaron Rodgers.
In a recent press conference, Tomlin offered high praise for the New York Jets quarterback, calling him a “workaholic” and a relentless competitor. But what really caught attention was the subtle hint that the Steelers are already crafting a specific game plan to deal with Rodgers.
“He’s a guy that never stops working,” Tomlin said. “He’s always sharpening his tools, studying defenses, pushing himself. You don’t prepare for a player like him the same way you prepare for anyone else.”
Tomlin didn’t give away any secrets, but his words suggested Pittsburgh is doing more than just reviewing film. Rodgers, coming off an Achilles injury, is returning with something to prove — and Tomlin is making sure his defense is ready for every possible version of the four-time MVP.
With a fast, aggressive, and improving defense, the Steelers are likely to throw different looks, disguise coverages, and challenge Rodgers’ legendary ability to read the field. Tomlin even hinted that traditional strategies might not be enough.
“When you’re facing a quarterback of his caliber, it’s not just about physical preparation,” he added. “It’s mental. It’s strategic. You’ve got to be ready to match wits.”
