As the summer is wrapping up, it means football season for the Minnesota Vikings and the rest of the NFL is almost back on our TVs, and it is one of the most exciting times of the year.

Training camp kicked off for the Vikings on Thursday, and with it comes lots of fighting for roster spots and a chance to look at some under-the-radar players.
Minnesota has a lot of players worth looking at in training camp this year, and there are even some things that could happen that could truly shock some fans.
7 bold Minnesota Vikings predictions for the team’s 2025 training camp
1. Jordan Mason wins the RB1 role over Aaron Jones
Aaron Jones is hitting his early 30s and struggled a little bit with injuries last season, as he had to miss some time during a few games.
Vikings fans and football fans all over the world know what Jones can do, as he was really flashy and explosive with the Green Bay Packers and showed that with Minnesota last season as well. But with age comes regression.
Insert Jordan Mason into the equation. The Vikings acquired him in an offseason trade with the San Francisco 49ers earlier this year, and he actually ran all over Minnesota in a Week 2 matchup last year.
Mason is way younger, has a burst that isn’t seen from Jones as much anymore, and he just knows how to get those extra yards. So look for him to beat out Jones this summer for the team’s starting running back role, but these two will still make quite the duo in the upcoming season.
2. Tai Felton enters the 2025 season as WR4
There was a reason that the Vikings selected Tai Felton in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Minnesota saw stuff that they liked and were confident enough in the pick.
The dude has good hands, good footwork, and good speed. All traits that you really look for in wide receivers, and he will beat out the likes of Lucky Jackson and Jeshaun Jones, among others, this summer for a spot on the team’s final roster.
Look for Felton to win the WR4 spot alongside Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and Rondale Moore.
3. Revamped offensive line will quickly become one of the NFL’s best
When a team has a young quarterback, they have to have an offensive line that knows how to protect, and Vikings signal-caller J.J. McCarthy has that this year with Christian Darrisaw, Brian O’Neill, plus the new additions of first-round pick Donovan Jackson, and free agent signees Ryan Kelly and Will Fries.
Minnesota’s offensive line should be viewed as a top 10, if not top five, unit all the way through the 2025 season, as they will all be working their tails off to protect McCarthy. With a revamped offensive line, the young Vikings quarterback will have time to read the field, make the right play, and eliminate mistakes.
Look for McCarthy to have a great season behind the starting five in front of him, beginning in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears.
4. Josh Metellus will sign an extension before training camp ends
Minnesota likely had a checklist going into this past offseason of things that absolutely had to get done to help the team improve and get some playoff wins in 2025.
Extending safety Josh Metellus absolutely had to be on the list, and Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah revealed on Wednesday that there are currently talks going on between the team and the veteran defender’s agent.
The dude absolutely deserves a new deal as he is one of the backbones of Minnesota’s defense. Look for his extension to get done sooner rather than later so that the Vikings can lock up another core player for multiple years.
5. Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins will emerge as a solid rotational piece of the defensive line
Back in April, Minnesota used a 2025 fifth-round pick to select defensive lineman Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins out of Georgia, and there was a reason for that.
Fans left and right said all throughout the draft, after the Vikings picked him, that he is going to be a special player and that won’t take long to come true.
Sure, he is going to be behind Harrison Phillips, Jonathan Allen, and Javon Hargrave, but he will get his chance. He will be a rotational piece and make an impact.
6. Gabriel Murphy will capture a roster spot
Another wildcard out there is none other than edge rusher Gabriel Murphy. Last year, the Vikings signed him as an undrafted free agent shortly after the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Draft.
Unfortunately, Murphy’s rookie season was cut short thanks to an injury, and he pretty much missed the whole year. But he is back and ready to prove that he belongs.
He was given a notable amount of money after the 2024 draft from Minnesota, and that happened for a reason. Look for him to surprise some people and win a roster spot.
7. Dallas Turner will get closer to meeting his first round expectations
It is no secret that the Vikings and football fans know that Dallas Turner has all the talent in the world, which is why Adofo-Mensah made a massive trade in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft to be able to move up and select him.
He was behind Andrew Van Ginkel and Jonathan Greenard on Minnesota’s edge rusher depth chart this past year and did not have too much of an impact. But he is going to work his butt off and really work hard so that he can be a factor in the upcoming season.
Turner was a first-round pick, and he is ready to prove why this summer as the preseason approaches.
