The Kansas City Chiefs are doubling down on dominance in the trenches.

At their 2025 training camp, the reigning Super Bowl champions made a bold move to supercharge their offensive line coaching staff, adding both familiar energy and veteran experience to the mix.

Former Chiefs lineman and fan-favorite Cam Erving returns to the organization—not as a player, but as a coaching presence. Known as a locker-room ‘hype man’ during his time in Kansas City (2017–2019), Erving brings his infectious energy, deep understanding of the game, and championship mentality to a group looking to protect MVP Patrick Mahomes at all costs.

“Cam was always more than just a player. His voice carried, his leadership inspired, and his football IQ was elite,” said Head Coach Andy Reid. “We’re thrilled to have that back on the sideline.”
Joining Erving is a 30-year coaching veteran whose name hasn’t been officially released yet but is expected to play a major role in developing younger talent and reinforcing technique fundamentals in both pass protection and run blocking schemes.
The strategic additions come as Kansas City continues to evolve its offensive front—balancing youth, experience, and adaptability in front of Mahomes. With several new faces battling for starting spots, the presence of two distinctly different voices on the coaching staff may prove pivotal.
“We’re not just building depth on the field. We’re building it on the sidelines too,” said Chiefs GM Brett Veach.
As training camp unfolds, all eyes will be on how the Chiefs’ revamped offensive line unit responds to the guidance of its upgraded staff—especially with another deep playoff run in sight.
