h. 49ers rookie WR Ricky Pearsall is set to return to practice for the first time since his off-field incident in San Francisco.

San Francisco, CA — After weeks of uncertainty and recovery, San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is officially returning to practice. The former Florida Gators standout had been sidelined following an off-field incident in San Francisco earlier this summer, sparking both concern and support across the football community.

The 23-year-old rookie, selected by the 49ers in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, had been impressing coaches and teammates with his work ethic and route-running precision during rookie minicamp. But his momentum was abruptly halted following an incident that left him recovering from a non-life-threatening injury.

Though details of the situation were not fully disclosed by the team or law enforcement, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed in a press conference this week that Pearsall had received medical clearance and would rejoin team activities.

“We’re excited to have Ricky back out there,” Shanahan said. “He’s been working hard behind the scenes, staying mentally sharp and staying connected with the team. Today is a big step forward.”

Support From Teammates and Staff

Pearsall’s absence was felt both on and off the field. Teammates spoke highly of the rookie’s determination, positivity, and mental toughness during his recovery.

“He’s got the mindset of a vet,” said veteran wideout Deebo Samuel. “Even while he was out, he was always in meetings, asking questions, keeping his head in the game. That says a lot about who he is.”

Quarterback Brock Purdy also weighed in, noting how Pearsall’s return boosts the offense’s depth and adds another precise route-runner to the rotation.

“Ricky’s one of those guys who just gets it,” Purdy said. “His timing, footwork, and hands are all sharp. We’re glad to see him back.”

A Fresh Start and Renewed Focus

Pearsall himself released a brief statement through the team, thanking fans for their support and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to rejoin the squad.

“I’m just thankful to be healthy and back with my brothers,” the statement read. “Now it’s about getting better every day and earning my spot.”

The 49ers have high hopes for the rookie, who totaled over 960 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns in his final collegiate season at Florida. His combination of speed, crisp route running, and reliable hands could give the 49ers another weapon in their already loaded offense.

Looking Ahead to Preseason Action

While there’s no official word on when Pearsall will see game action, his return to full-speed practice puts him on track to participate in the 49ers’ upcoming preseason schedule. Coaches have indicated they’ll ease him back in and monitor his progress closely.

For Pearsall and the 49ers, the focus now turns to football — and for the young wide receiver, a chance to write the next chapter in his story, one rep at a time.
