V. Andy Reid Speaks at Training Camp: “We’re Focused, We’re Hungry”

As the Kansas City Chiefs kick off training camp, head coach Andy Reid addressed the media with his trademark mix of wisdom, clarity, and quiet intensity.

Coming off back-to-back Super Bowl victories, many expected the Chiefs to relax — but Reid made it clear: that’s not how champions stay champions.

“We’re not here to coast,” Reid said. “We’re here to compete, to get better, and to build the foundation for another run.”

Reid praised the offseason work ethic of several key players, including quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, and newly extended defensive end George Karlaftis. He also highlighted the team’s young talent, noting how impressed he’s been with rookies and second-year players showing growth and leadership.

“These guys came in ready to work,” Reid added. “That’s what you want to see — no complacency.”

When asked about the pressure of chasing a three-peat, Reid smiled and shrugged it off:

“Pressure’s part of the job. You embrace it. That’s what makes this fun.”

The 66-year-old coach enters his 12th season with the Chiefs, and with a roster full of returning stars and promising young depth, expectations are sky-high once again.

Training camp is underway, and Andy Reid’s message is simple: Focus, fundamentals, and fire. The Chiefs aren’t looking back — they’re building the future, one rep at a time.
