Earlier this month, Arturo Flores—a dedicated volunteer with Logan’s Legacy 29—received a heartbreaking message. A concerned resident had spotted a black-and-white dog lying motionless in the bushes. She wasn’t just still—she was crying out, her whimpers echoing through the neighborhood.
Flores rushed to the scene without hesitation. What he found there was exactly as described: the dog, helpless and broken, was curled up on her side among garbage and dry leaves. She hadn’t moved in days, but her eyes were pleading for help.

“This poor baby had been suffering for days, and no one came,” said Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29.
Refusing to leave her behind, Flores gently lifted the dog—now named Tillie—and carried her to safety. He brought her straight to Camino Pet Hospital, where vets quickly got to work figuring out what was wrong.

The diagnosis was both heartbreaking and hopeful: Tillie had a fractured pelvis. The pain had left her immobile, but now, finally, she was in the hands of people who cared.
“She looked into Dr. K’s face with such gratitude,” Hall shared. “It was like she finally knew someone was there to help her.”

With a personalized treatment plan, including pain relief and round-the-clock care, Tillie’s healing journey has begun. It’s still uncertain whether she’ll need surgery, but for now, the medications—and the kindness surrounding her—are working wonders. She’s already showing signs of improvement, even wagging her tail and flashing grateful smiles to her caregivers.
While her rescuers work to find the perfect medical foster home, Tillie is safe, warm, and loved.
“She will never have to cry for help again,” Hall said.
Tillie’s story is a reminder of resilience, hope, and the incredible power of compassion. And as she continues to heal, one thing is certain: the worst is behind her—and love is all around her now.
