George Strait, 73, stood before a quiet Texas crowd this morning—his eyes red, his voice cracking—as he spoke not as a superstar, but as a son of the Lone Star State.
“The destruction and loss in our community from the recent flood is hard to wrap your head around,” he said. “Our hearts and prayers are with you all.”
Then, he paused. And what he said next brought everyone to their feet—in tears.
‘STRAIT TO THE HEART’: Country’s Biggest Names Answer His Call
In the wake of the deadliest flood in Texas history—with over 120 lives lost, 160 still missing, and dozens of children among the victims—George Strait has done more than offer words.
He’s rallying an army of country music’s finest for a one-night-only intimate concert and benefit dinner to be held on Sunday, July 27 in Boerne, Texas.

In partnership with longtime friend and Vaqueros del Mar co-founder Tom Cusick, Strait made one thing clear:
“We didn’t want to wait. People need help now.”
All proceeds will go directly to the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Local first responders will receive free admission. Donations will be hand-delivered to families who’ve lost everything — and to the heroes still searching through the rubble.
