“Even If My Voice Cracks…” — 92-Year-Old Willie Nelson Walks Back On Stage One Last Time… And Leaves the Whole Crowd in Tears…B

Willie Nelson, 92, Recently Performed A Duet With His Son, Lukas

Six days after being forced to cancel a concert, Willie Nelson performed a duet with his talented son, Lukas Nelson. Nelson is currently on his hugely successful Outlaw Music Festival Tour. Unfortunately, they had to cancel the July 1st date due to “unforeseeable circumstances.”

The concert was set to take place in El Reno, Oklahoma, but on June 29, the crew was hit with an “extreme weather event” at the Ridgedale, Missouri, tour stop. The weather got so bad that the audience was forced to evacuate. Some instruments got damaged and “waterlogged” and needed repair or replacement. Nelson’s legendary guitar, Trigger, was not one of the damaged instruments.

“Trigger is marked SAFE from the damage suffered to other instruments and equipment in the MO storm,” Nelson’s team wrote in the announcement’s comments section

The performers were able to resume on July 4th for Willie Nelson’s annual concert and picnic in Austin, Texas. The tour has close to 20 dates left, so the turnaround on the repairs and replacements had to be quick and long-lasting!

The tour resumed on July 5th in Dallas at the Dos Equis Pavilion with an incredible lineup of Bob Dylan, The Avett Brothers, The Mavericks, and Tami Neilson. Nelson, of course played an entire set, but one of the highlights had to be when he performed alongside his son, Lukas. They sang “Just Breathe,” a Pearl Jam song they recorded together back in 2012 for Willie’s Heroes album.

Anytime Willie performs on stage is a treat, but when he performs this song with his son, it’s pure magic. Due to his age, Willie now performs most of his sets seated and is a little more out of breath than in his younger years, but he still has the same passion he had decades ago.

Outlaw Music Festival Is Celebrating Its 10th Year

The Outlaw Music Festival is celebrating its prosperous 10th anniversary in 2025, marking a decade of sprawling tours that honor the spirit of outlaw country. Spearheaded by Willie Nelson, the festival has evolved since its 2016 debut in Scranton, PA, into North America’s largest touring annual music celebration. This year’s expanded lineup includes legends like Willie Nelson & Family, Bob Dylan, Billy Strings, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats, Sheryl Crow, The Avett Brothers, Wilco, and many more across 35 stops in 22 states.

Blending Americana, country, bluegrass, and rock, the festival is curated to spotlight musical mavericks who defy genre boundaries—what Willie Nelson calls “friends and family” bringing their unique sounds to appreciative fans. Each stop features a rotating roster of five acts, offering blockbuster headliners and up-and-coming talents. Iconic names like Dylan and Nelson appear at every show, while other artists like Sierra Hull, Lily Meola, and Turnpike Troubadours rotate throughout the tour.

The tour kicked off mid‑May at Talking Stick Resort in Phoenix, followed by a show at Chula Vista’s North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre. Early shows had a lineup of Willie, Dylan, bluegrass ace Billy Strings, Sierra Hull, and Lily Meola. As the festival moves east, audiences can expect to hear Nathaniel Rateliff, Trampled by Turtles, Myron Elkins, Tami Neilson, and more alongside the main heads. Notable regional stops include Pine Knob (MI), Blossom Center (OH), and Hersheypark Stadium in PA.

What truly sets the Outlaw Music Festival apart is its mix of legend-level performances, genre-defying crossovers, intimate connections via “Outlaw Villages”—pop-up zones filled with food, drink, and merch—and a reverent musical community. It’s more than just a tour—it’s a rolling pilgrimage of authenticity, rooted in the musical outlaw ethos Nelson helped pioneer.

We’re glad that Willie is still able to perform so much and that the Outlaw Music Festival is still so successful in its 10th year.
