According to a report released on July 7 by the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC), New York State, USA witnessed 66 sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs), or unidentified flying phenomena (UAPs), from January to the end of June 2025.
This number is equivalent to the same period last year, when NUFORC recorded 65 incidents, Fox News reported on July 8.
The objects described range from glowing spheres and silent triangles to high-speed flying saucers and streams of light with changing shapes.
According to NUFORC, the incidents were not concentrated in one particular area but spread across the state — from remote rural areas, suburbs to the skies above New York City.
Some of the hot spots reported include small towns like Chester, Ridge and Evans Mills — which is near a military base and has seen glowing orbs multiple times in March.
Some witnesses suspect the phenomenon may be related to military activity.
The most common shapes recorded were spheres, spherical shapes, and triangles – often moving in unusual ways such as making sharp 90-degree turns, accelerating suddenly, or flying in zigzags.
One particular incident occurred in Chester on March 25, when a person walking his dog at around 6pm reported seeing two white spheres flying extremely fast and close together.
The man initially thought the two objects were birds, but then realized they were moving at unusual speeds and flying in sync with each other.
As they flew across the sky, the two objects suddenly turned nearly 90 degrees without slowing down, then turned into dark ovals, almost disappearing into the night.

Another notable incident occurred on June 24, when a passenger on a flight from Toronto to New York reported seeing a metal sphere flying in the opposite direction of the plane, 30-60m away.
Witnesses described the object as a perfectly spherical, shiny object, not like a balloon or a stationary object, but moving steadily and away from the plane. Although the two pilots did not see the object, passengers were convinced of its unusual nature.
Some reports include photos or videos, but NUFORC has not made them public. Some have suggested that the objects could be drones, fireworks, or the International Space Station, but most remain unexplained.
The NUFORC Center was founded in 1974 by UFO investigator Robert J. Gribble, with the mission of recording and verifying unidentified flying phenomena worldwide.
The agency said spring and early summer typically see a spike in reports due to favorable weather conditions for outdoor observation.
