2025’s Not Looking Easy for the Chiefs — But There’s ONE Game Mahomes Absolutely Can’t Lose

The start of training camp is fast approaching for the Kansas City Chiefs, whose expectations are soaring as the weeks pass. Patrick Mahomes and company have their sights set on the Super Bowl and will accept nothing less after their painful loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

There’s no better way to kick off the season than with major challenges, as they face at least two games that will push them to their limits and could set the tone for the season.

First the Chargers, then revenge against the Philadelphia Eagles

The Chiefs‘ schedule is packed with teams that made the playoffs last year, but Patrick Mahomes is particularly focused on the first two games.

They’ll first face off against the Los Angeles Chargers in a divisional matchup that involves traveling to Brazil, specifically Sao Paulo, to open their season. Then, they’ll take on the Philadelphia Eagles at Arrowhead Stadium, a game that serves as an early “revenge” match, though what they truly want is to meet them again in the Super Bowl.

Patrick Mahomes understands the importance of these games but approaches them with calm confidence, as he expressed in his interview with Kay Adams.

“Whenever you win a lot of games, you play a lot of great football teams,” Mahomes said on Up and Adams. “Go to Brazil, playing against the Chargers, who are going to be hungry to beat us, and then you play the Eagles in Week 2Super Bowl rematch, obviously they got after us this Super Bowl, so it will be a great challenge for us to see where we’re at.”

With a roster strengthened during the offseason, the Chiefs aim to reclaim the dominant form they displayed in recent seasons. The divisional clash in Week 1 and the Week 2 matchup against the reigning champions certainly draw attention, but other exciting games shouldn’t be overlooked.

For instance, in Week 9, they’ll face the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen in a rematch of the AFC Championship, and we can’t underestimate the Denver Broncos, who could finally dethrone the Chiefs in their division. The two games against Denver could prove decisive in the race to the playoffs.
