VOV.VN – Football star Patrick Mahomes has reached an agreement to extend his 10-year contract with the Kansas Chiefs worth up to $503 million.

The record-breaking contract between football star Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas Chiefs shocked the sports world, with a total value of $503 million and a term of 10 years.

According to ESPN, Patrick Mahomes will be with the Kansas Chiefs until 2031. The 24-year-old star will pocket at least $450 million and up to $503 million from the defending NFL (Major League Football) champions.

Patrick Mahomes will receive $140 million if the Kansas Chiefs release him due to injury. The deal also includes a non-transfer clause.

The new contract between the two sides will take effect in April 2021, after the current contract expires. ESPN sources revealed that Patrick Mahomes will definitely receive $83 million in salary, not including bonuses, between 2021 and 2023.

This is considered the “biggest” contract ever in the sports world, surpassing the record deals of baseball star Mike Trout with the Los Angeles Angels ($426.5 million) or boxer Canelo Alvarez with streaming service company DANZ ($365 million).

Patrick Mahomes was selected 10th overall by Kansas City in the 2017 NFL Draft and quickly became a world-famous football and sports star.
