The shooting took place late on April 15 (local time). Law enforcement in Indianapolis, the capital city of the US state of Indiana, immediately arrived at the scene of the shooting after receiving reports of multiple gunshots coming from inside the building.

City police spokesman Genae Cook told the press: “When police arrived at the scene, they immediately contacted that this was a shooting. Police determined that eight people were dead at the scene and many others were injured.”

Witnesses said they heard gunshots and saw bodies inside the FedEx facility. One person said they saw the suspect using an automatic weapon to shoot people inside the facility.

More than 4,500 employees work at this FedEx facility, which is the second largest hub in FedEx’s global network, according to the Indianapolis Star morning daily newspaper. Indianapolis police are currently investigating the incident.
