St. Brown, 24, was a first-team All-Pro last season when he posted career-bests with 119 catches, 1,515 yards and 10 touchdowns.

He has been selected to the Pro Bowl each of the past two seasons. He is also one of only three players in NFL history to have 90 or more receptions in each of his first three seasons, along with Odell Beckham Jr. (2014-16) and Michael Thomas (2016-18), according to ESPN Stats & Information.

The Lions selected St. Brown in the fourth round of the 2021 draft. He will become an unrestricted free agent after this season if no new deal is reached.

NFL Network first reported Brown’s deal.

Before news of the deal broke, St. Brown spoke to ESPN on Wednesday morning, saying he felt “good” about the possibility of a contract extension.

“I’m not worried, I know it’s going to be resolved here in the near future,” he said. “Don’t worry too much about it. The negotiations are going very well. So I’m excited about it.”

His father, John Brown, told ESPN that the Lions are looking to get the deal done before the draft.

“You go back and forth, but when it happens, even if you see it coming, it still blows your mind,” Brown said. “I’m proud of him.”

St. Brown said his goals for next year include winning a Super Bowl after helping the Lions reach the NFC Championship Game for the first time in 32 years.

“My goals for next year are definitely higher than last year, but I want to win the Super Bowl,” he told ESPN. “That’s the No. 1 goal for me, for our whole team, is to win the Super Bowl.

“We’re hungry, we’re ready,” he said. “We had success last year, but we feel like we’re ready. We have guys on this team. We’ve done the work before; we know what it looks like, and it starts now for us.”

As Detroit prepares to host its first NFL game this week, St. Brown will be one of the busier players. He has a number of scheduled appearances, including meetings with military personnel through USAA and serving pizza to the community on Thursdays at Little Caesars Love Kitchen.
