In May 2023, a 48-year-old woman named Lillian V. from Oregon made headlines after she miraculously survived a wilderness trip where she was stranded for nearly five days.

Lillian was driving to visit a friend in a remote area of the Willamette National Forest. Her GPS directed her onto a remote, unpaved trail. Unfortunately, her SUV got stuck in mud after a heavy rain, and she was unable to move forward.
It was worth mentioning that Lillian had brought no food, only some cough drops and a small bottle of fruit wine, which was intended as a birthday present for a friend. For five days, she stayed in the car, using the rainwater on the windshield and sipping wine to keep up her strength. Because there was no phone signal, she could not call for help.

Finally, thanks to the car being parked in a relatively empty location, a local police search helicopter spotted it from above. They landed and found Lillian in a state of mild dehydration but still conscious. The first thing she said to the rescue team was: “I never really liked alcohol, but it saved my life.”
After being taken to the hospital for a check-up, Lillian quickly recovered and said she would never fully trust GPS again.
