Washington D.C., July 2025 – Former President Donald Trump has caused a stir when he announced on the social network Truth Social that he would “seriously consider cutting off the subsidies that Elon Musk’s companies are receiving from the US government”.

“Nobody gets more money from the government than Elon. If he’s not happy, he can go back to South Africa.”

The statement came after a series of public criticisms between the two sides, especially when Musk strongly opposed a budget bill proposed by Trump.
Elon Musk is the man behind two of the largest strategic technology corporations in the US:

Both have received many incentives and subsidies from the US government for more than a decade. If suddenly cut off, not only Musk but also many related industries and jobs would be affected.
The war of words between Trump and Elon Musk is no longer simply a personal conflict – it has become a national political-economic issue. What will happen to projects like electric cars, space travel and AI if Musk loses government financial backing?
