CT Who is the latest international addition to the Los Angeles Galaxy?

Introducing the Uruguayan midfielder to the six-time MLS Cup champions.

The winningest franchise in Major League Soccer history adds another international midfielder. This weekend, the Los Angeles Galaxy added midfielder Lucas Sanabria.

Hailing from Uruguay, the 21-year-old joins fellow countryman Diego Fagundez. Sanabria comes stateside from the Uruguayan Primera Division side Club Nacional de Football.

Since the age of 17, Sanabria has appeared for Nacional. In 21 appearances. He is the younger brother of Juan Manuel Sanabria who plays for Atletico San Luis.

“We are thrilled to welcome Lucas to the LA Galaxy. We look forward to Lucas joining the Galaxy family and integrating in the team in these final weeks before the upcoming season.”Will Kuntz, GM of the LA Galaxy

In 2024, the newest member of the Los Angeles Galaxy logged one goal and two assists in 12 matches for Campeonato Uruguayo Clausura. Sanabria started in all 12 of those matches.

Also this year, Sanabria was a part of the Nacional side that captured a victory in the Torneo Intermedio. During this tournament, he recorded one goal and two assists in seven games.

The LA Galaxy has seen quite a few changes, especially at the midfield position. The first player to leave the team was Gaston Brugman in a trade to Nashville SC. The return was veteran Sean Davis.

Sanabria is listed as a midfielder along with last year’s mid-season acquisition Marco Reus in addition to Fagundez, Davis and Edwin Cerrillo. Jason Bucknor was also added during the MLS Super Draft and Elijah Wynder was signed from Louisville City.
