This is the only white whale that has been favored by filmmakers to make a documentary.

Migaloo the whale is famous worldwide for her distinctive white coloration all over her body and is the only beluga whale to be documented on film.

Migaloo, 14m long, appeared off the coast of New South Wales, near Byron Bay. Migaloo’s journey to the eastern seaboard of Australia attracted many curious and nature lovers to observe.

Scientists estimate Migaloo is 28 years old and in his prime. Humpback whales can live up to 50 years. Migaloo has previously been spotted with another companion, but this time he was traveling alone.

A Twitter account for the Center for Beluga Whale Research provides real-time tracking of Migaloo’s whale journey.
